Study Carrels

A limited number of study carrels are available for graduate and faculty use.  Applications may be made at the Access Services Desk or you can request a study carrel online using the form below. A $5.00 refundable deposit is required for the faculty and graduate study carrels. Please note the carrels are in high demand and current applicants will be placed on a waiting list.

Individual Study Spaces

At the request of the Registrar’s Office, the individual study spaces on the second and fourth floors have been set aside as part of the quiet spaces available on campus for students who need to attend a virtual class. These students therefore have the first priority to occupy these spaces between the hours of 7:30 to 4:30 on weekdays. They are available to other students on a first-come, first served basis at the other times that the library is open. It is not necessary to make a reservation to use these spaces at this time. For more information about the quiet spaces on campus, see https://www.lsu.edu/roadmap/academics/index.php.

Retired Faculty

Retired faculty members who are involved in research may request a study carrel in the Library, which will be assigned according to current policy.  Retiring faculty members who have already reserved a carrel may request to keep his/her currently assigned carrel.  Permission will be granted based upon the current availability of spaces.

For more information see the Carrel Assignment and Use Policy

Because carrels also serve as federally mandated testing spaces, no graduate carrels on the third and fourth floors will be available for study purposes during finals week.
